A Praying Church - "A House of Prayer”

The Mission Bend Prayer Ministry team is devoted to helping you become more comfortable and effective in your prayer life.  Prayer will improve your relationship with God and enrich your life. God will hear your prayer and He will answer it in His own time and according to His own plan.  God loves you and wants to hear from you.  Prayerful lives are powerful lives. According to James 4:2, “You do not have because you do not ask God.”  Let us help you ask God.

Most months there is a service of prayer and healing at Mission Bend, designed to help you pray for yourself or others, to ask Jesus to bring healing and comfort to you in every area of your lives, anywhere you or someone you care about is hurting. You may choose to pray about such areas as strained relationships, financial problems, addictions, physical, emotional, spiritual, mental or other problem areas. The days of the week and times of the month for these services are frequently changed to enable as many people as possible to attend.  These services are publicized in the bulletin boards, the monthly newsletter the “Messenger,” the weekly worship guides and on the web site. Strict confidentiality is maintained for all prayer requests.

Invitations are offered to all present to pray at the altar rail at each Mission Bend service each Sunday except on communion Sundays.  The people standing at the side of the altar during the time of prayer are Prayer Partners and are available to you for praying with you.  If you would like to have a Prayer Partner, just tell one of us and we will be honored to pray with you.

Mission Bend has a powerful e-prayer ministry that sends e-mail prayer requests all day every day to a large number of church members who pray for each e-prayer request, and hold them in strict confidentiality.

Prayer guides to help you pray Biblically on many specific and general subjects and prayer request forms are in a display located in the lobby as well as on the web site.  Praying verses from the Bible is a powerful approach.  When you pray God’s own Word, you are using His language to communicate with Him, using Bible verses that may be paraphrased or personalized, but not distorted.  It is the heritage and the privilege of every Christian believer to be able to communicate with our Commander.

Prayer quilt squares are a powerful aid to prayer and healing at Mission Bend.  These squares are prayed over and mailed to first-time visitors, given out at the services of prayer and healing as well as to the ill and homebound.

Lighthouse Prayer Ministry is a specific neighborhood praying ministry that recognizes we are called as Christians to be "beacons of light" where we live and work.  (See Matthew 5:14-16, Acts 13:47 and Ephesians 5:7-9)

Either alone or by joining together with others, we pray for our neighbors as we drive, walk or ride in the area and neighborhoods where we live and work.

What Do I Have To Do?

  • Commit to pray in your neighborhood as you walk and drive through it on your way to work, the store, school, etc.  Pray for your neighbors-both those you now and those you don't.  Pray that their homes be safe havens and that they be drawn into a close relationship with Christ.  Pray for the health of their bodies, souls, and their relationships.  Pray for the school in you neighborhood and those you drive by.  Pray for the safety of the children and their teachers.  Pray for the business owners and workers where you shop, bank, etc.  Pray for those who work to protect us (the police, fire and emergency personnel).
  • Pray that God keeps everyone from all harm and evil forces.
