MOTHER‘S PRAYER

Most Holy Father, we come before you to give you all the thanks and glory for the many blessings in our lives and especially for that awesome and most beautiful gift you have given us - motherhood.  We fully acknowledge that motherhood is both a privilege and challenge, which is why we come together in agreement to pray for our children and our children’s children.  Age has no boundary when a mother is concerned about her loved ones.  We know how important family is to you because you have made us part of your family by sending your Son, Jesus, into the world to become our savior and the savior of all mankind.  We thank and praise you when we are reminded in 1 John 3:1 How great is the love The Father has lavished on us that we are called children of God.”  Thank you, Father, thank you!

We do not take our duties as mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers lightly and we seek your Divine Guidance and protection to be upon all of our loved ones.  Your Holy Word says in Proverbs 23:4 “Train up a child in the way he should grow and when he is old he will not depart from it.”  Some of our children are still growing and we seek your guidance in raising them to be caring, responsible, Christians while others pray this same prayer for our grandchildren and great grandchildren.  We desire with all our hearts that the words and actions we showed them when they were younger will take root and flourish so they may increase in your knowledge and wisdom.  We pray that you will place godly people in all our children’s pathways, no matter what their ages.  For our adult children we pray that these godly people will help turn the tide that seems to have our children flowing away from you instead of toward you.  Keep all of our children safe and protect them from those leading them into ways of destruction and selfish acts.  We ask that you cover each and every one of them with a blanket of protection to fight off the enemy that wants to take over our children’s lives.  We also pray in agreement Proverbs 3:5, 6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” We trust you, Lord, and pray this scripture because we know we can never rely on our own strength or wisdom.  We pray with all our hearts that all of our children will acknowledge you and that you will make their pathways straight and that pathway will lead them to you.  Many times our children get themselves into terrible situations; but we trust solely on your words found in Matthew 19:26 “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  We know that you will find a way to lead them back to you and that you will find a way to place godly people in their lives to reach out to them in ways we as parents cannot.  And we know that this will happen in your timing, not in theirs or ours.  We agree with the words found in 3 John 4 “We have no greater joy than to know our children walk in truth.” And we know that Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  We believe this and confirm this in your name.

We desire nothing more than to have all of our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren know you personally and have a deep and personal relationship with you and your son, Jesus. Open their hearts to receive your love, their ears to hear your words and their minds to understand how vast your love is for them.  Show them what it is you would have them do to enter into that closeness with you.  Forgive us for those times when our own behavior is not pleasing to you - when our patience wears thin, our tempers rise or we say hurtful things.  Help us to constantly look to you for our guidance and rely solely on you for our strength and wisdom.

Father, we seek your perfect peace for all women praying this prayer with us.  Fill them with your strength, your courage and your power to forge ahead even when they are depressed or discouraged.  Pour out your blessings upon each mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  We thank you for your unending love and pray expectantly, knowing you have heard our pleas.  In His name we pray, Amen.
