MARCH 2010 MBUMC PRAYER FOCUS

Please join the Mission Bend UMC Prayer Ministry Team in this prayer

So brothers and sisters, since God has shown us great mercy, I beg you to offer your lives as a living sacrifice to him.  Your offering must be only for God and pleasing to him, which is the spiritual way to worship.  Romans 12:1 New Century Version

God our Father,

We thank you that your son, Jesus, made a holy sacrifice for us, that we might belong completely to you.  We thank you that Jesus prays for us (John 17:9).  We thank you that he asked you to guard us as we pursue this life in your kingdom, so that we can be one heart and mind as you and Jesus are one heart and mind (John 17:11).  In the same way that you gave Jesus a mission in the world, Jesus has given us a mission in the world (John 17:18).  By your Word and your Truth, may we also be set apart for a sacred purpose (John 17:19).

Here in this community of faith, we, like Jesus, desire to be in our Father’s house and about our Father’s business (Luke 2:49).  We thank you, God, for those who lead us in outreach ministries: Steve Ackerman, Karen and Randy Burkham, Connie Fowler, Kristi Garner, Hazel Jackson, Just Us Guys study group, Marcia and Rudy Lee, Glenys and Mike McMennamy, David Meeker-Williams, and Sandy Owens.  Lord, you have given us opportunities and you have led us to serve your people in West Oaks Geriatric Center, Tailgate with a Hero, nearby schools, Mission Possible, Mission Bells Food Pantry, JUMMP, UMARMY, and Christmas Projects.  In your Word you encourage us to seek your will in all we do and you will show us which paths to take.  May we listen for your voice in everything we do, everywhere we go, knowing that you will keep us on track (Proverbs 3:6).

Lord, we thank you that you have plans for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).  You have set us free to live a free life.  Let us use our freedom to serve one another in love (Galatians 5:l, 13b Msg.).                                            All this we pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee.

Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of thy love.

Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.

Hymn 399 v. 1
