JULY 2010 MBUMC PRAYER FOCUS

Please join the Mission Bend UMC Prayer Ministry Team in this prayer

If God is for us, who can be against us?

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Romans 8:31b, 32 NIV

Precious Lord,

We, your people who are called by your name, humble ourselves, seek your face, and turn from our wicked ways, praying that you will forgive our sins and restore our land.  Lord, may we live in your presence, live pure in heart and action, living the life you have set before us, attentively obedient to your guidance. (2 Chronicles 7:14 NLT, 17 Msg)

Can anything ever separate us from your love?  Does it mean you no longer love us if we have trouble or hard times, or are persecuted, or hungry, or homeless, or in danger, or threatened with death?  We are so thankful your word tells us that despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.  Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.  Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from your love. (Romans 8:35,37-38 NLT)   May love be our guide as we journey through this life to which you call us.

(1 Corinthians 14:1)

Lord, we thank you for the lives and ministry of our young people and for those who shepherd them, especially Samantha Bivens and Mike McMennamy.  We thank you for those seeking to know you, to worship you and to hear your word in a language they understand.   We thank you for the life and ministry of your anointed leader, Mauro Moreno, who tends your sheep.  May we all “speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.  He makes the whole body fit together perfectly.  As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”  (Ephesians 4:15-16 NLT)   Thank you, Lord.  Thank you, Lord.

All this we pray in Jesus’ holy name,    Amen.

Jesus loves me still today, walking with me on my way,

Wanting as a friend to give light and love to all who live.

Yes, Jesus loves me!  Yes, Jesus loves me!  Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Hymn 191 v. 3
