PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE
FOR MISSION BEND UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

O Lord my God, Most welcome guest in my heart, I exalt Your holy name. Forgive my sins, and forgive the sins of all who repent and forgive all who have wronged us. Bless all at Mission Bend United Methodist Church, (Mission Bend) and enlarge our territory for Your exaltation. Thank you for each person who is saved, Father. Help us to be still and know that You are God. Help us to focus on You, that we might seek Your will, know Your will and do Your will in all things. Thank You, Perfect Parent.
Thank you, Lord God, for being present at Mission Bend. Thank you that hearts have been touched, ears have heard, eyes have been opened and lives have been changed.
“O LORD, you hear my voice…I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.” Psalm 5:3 Thank You, Lord God, for hearing and answering our prayers.
Jesus said “If you remain in me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” John 15:7 I pray that we remain in Jesus and His words remain in us. Help us understand the urgency to continually pray to You for guidance.
Jesus said “But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the Word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” Luke 8:15 Lord God, I pray that each person at Mission Bend hear Your Word, which is the Bible, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop for Your honor, glory and praise. I pray that we fully understand the relevance and urgency of Your Word.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3
I pray that we at Mission Bend commit each plan to the Lord, so each plan will succeed.
Father, I ask for guidance for Mission Bend in the blessed name of Jesus. Amen

Teach us to pray for guidance before we read your Word. Help us to not skim your Bible as one would skim a newspaper, rather help us to mine it like a quarry. “and if you call out for insight and…understanding…and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will …find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:3-6
“…we do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” Romans 8:26 Lord God, I ask for the Holy Spirit
to be in us, intercede for us and teach us Your will for ourselves and Mission Bend.
“…Jesus… always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7:24-25 I pray for Jesus to intercede for us, that we might discern God’s will for Mission Bend. I pray that our prayers be in keeping with the nature and character of Jesus as He lives His life through us. Since He indwells us, He not only desires to live through us, but to intercede through us as well. Help us to have pure hearts, humble spirits, creativity and open minds dedicated to Your service.
Jesus said “…I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name.” John 15:16 Help us bear
fruit that will last, then the Father will give us whatever we ask in the name of Jesus.
“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.’ ” Matthew 22:37-38
Lord God, help us love you with all our hearts, souls and minds.
In the next verse in Matthew, Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” I pray that we each love our neighbor as ourselves. I pray that we love and value ourselves
in a wholesome way.
Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.” Matthew 12:25 I pray that there be unity
at Mission Bend, and that Mission Bend will stand.
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 Help us fix our eyes on the eternal.
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus…The One who calls you is faithful and He will do it.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, 24 Father, help us be joyful, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances and follow Your will for us. Thank you for being faithful and doing it.
