CONFIRMAND’S PRAYER

O LORD my God, You are the Perfect Parent.  Thank You for creating me and loving me just

as I am.  Thank You for the many, many blessings you have showered upon me. You are

majestic and faithful, and I can always count on You to be the same yesterday, today and

forever.  I give You my praise, glory and honor.  Forgive my sins, as I freely forgive everyone

who has ever wronged me.  Help me have a pure heart and humble spirit. Bless me, and

enlarge my territory that I might help make disciples of Jesus, to transform the world.

Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all

Your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.” Matthew 22:37-38 Help the Confirmands

develop a closer relationship with You through Jesus Christ and with one another as we grow

in understanding of what it truly means to be part of a Christian community.

Jesus said,  “Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be.

My father will honor the one who serves me.” John 12:26 Help each Confirmand choose to

be confirmed and accept their responsibility to serve their Lord God by participating in

exercises that grow and strengthen their faith, their church community by being an active

member, and the larger community by acting out their faith through works of love.

“…you shall keep the rites in the appointed season, and according to all the ceremonies

thereof, you shall keep them…” Numbers 9:3 Help each Confirmand build to that moment

when Christian rituals unite the body of Christ and strengthen faith.  Help each one to

feel deeply spiritual, connected, loved and supported.

Good Shepherd, help the Confirmands use the United Methodist membership vows of

Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service and Witness as a model to achieve their Confirmation elements.
